Cage plays a secret service agent assigned to protect Shirley Maclaine's former First Lady. It is by turns funny and heartfelt. Maclaine, of course, plays her usual prickly, mouthy persona while Cage's character is simultaneously irritated and tender toward her. The twist of having the former First Lady kidnapped and held for ransom is a little incongruous but the phone conversations Cage's character has with the President alone are worth the price of admission, laced with profanity though they may be. So give it a try. Put it on your Netflix queue and let me know what you think. Any other movies out there that are under appreciated in your opinion?

Just watched "The Great Debaters" w/Denzel the Dream Man on TV the other day and absolutely loved it ... kind of a Remember the Titans or Hoosiers, but with a non-sports theme. Instructive, touching, and we've come a long way, Baby ! underlining ...
Also saw a good one w/Timothy Hutton about a southern law case with some good supporting characters, but I'll have to search the title.

Twelve Angry Men w/Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb
Cannes Film Festival winner 1956; directed by Sidney Lumet; filmed in less than a month on a budget of $100k. Used this film in leadership training at Ford and watched the film dozens of times.
I thought you would have mentioned "Uncle Buck" and "Overboard"!! Hee hee!!
No seriously, "Drop Dead Gorgeous"...hello!! And my other fave, "Whale Rider".
